Sadly, I ran into this exact issue with the Ravensburger Puzzle app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ravensburgerdigital.puzzle&hl=en_). It came up as being compatible with all of my devices, and while I can find and launch it from Settings->Apps, it won't recognize the controller inputs. I did write the developer, so we'll see what they say.
