I'm using Remote for VLC (Fork). Tried out tonnes of remotes and found this to be the best one for VLC. Nice design, all the common media buttons, and it's easy to load and navigate playlists.
If you only use 1 or 2 remotes, I'd suggest looking for single program remotes rather than bundles. You're more likely to find one that's been designed well and has all the important functions.
