The game is dying. Most people are inactive or bots. The problem is that end game is very boring. There is not much you can do and everything takes a crazy amount of time (months and sometimes years) even with the best time upgrades (5G). There was also a big cheat in the game which maxed most people out. Occasionally, you may stumble upon someone with like 20 mill in his account (as a result of either the cheat or someone having abandoned their account). The top players on the leaderboard use scripts. The point is that the developers have abandoned the app. There is however an alternative that I like quite a lot. Try it out:
