VPlayer is the crappy video player that the official Movie HD app forces you to install. Its sole purpose it to display ads. For obvious reasons Movie HD is not allowed in the Play Store so this is a way for them to still be able to use the Google ad system with Movie HD.
The official MegaBox HD now uses the same tactics by forcing you to install MPlayer.
I've made a modified version of Movie HD called Movie HD Lite that doesn't need VPlayer but I just discovered HD Cinema which has the same content as Movie HD but, like my Lite version, doesn't force you to install a crappy external player (yet).

TL/DR: A shitty proprietary video player required to watch anything on Movie HD. ;)
You mean the semi-transparant player controls in VPlayer? You can of course choose to install VPlayer and use it as your custom player but that kinda defeats the purpose of this mod..
