So what is the go-to for something like this? I've seen some map-based widgets (for example: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tregware.radar&hl=en), so what do they do here? Load a .gif from somewhere and stick it in an ImageView?

It's called Weather Radar Widget. I work outside so it comes in real handy.
