Hola,
I developed WeedBiz: Marijuana Dispensary Tycoon in Unity and was quite pleased with Unity as a gaming engine. Like yourself, I'm a business software developer by trade - this was my first attempt at developing a game. I was able to use my C# skills, which was awesome. Plus the holy grail of one codebase for iOS, Android, etc... is pretty awesome. For me, it was like a caveman seeing fire for the first time.
