Are you kidding me?! That’s ridiculously small, he can barely turn around!!!
Jokes aside, it’s a great water volume for him, but it might be a tad deep. They need to reach the surface to breathe with their labyrinth organ, and while they can process air through their gills as well, they do need to reach the surface since most of their air intake is through their labyrinth. I would be concerned with his ability to reach the surface expediently if down low. He will probably spend most of his time near the surface, so I would recommend some floating plants, floating decorations, or they even make fake leaves on suction cups specifically so bettas have a place to rest near the surface.
Simply search for aquatic cup. Here's the first thing on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Senzeal-Crystal-Aquatic-Aquarium-Aquascape/dp/B074T8BLCF/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=aquatic+cup&qid=1605464200&sr=8-3
Not sure it's an actual log. This is a floating log I had heard a lot of good things about to provide a happy aquarium for your betta. Here is an Amazon link to what I have. My betta loves his!

These were the ones I ordered. Cheaper then I remembered too!
all came intact and in a timely manner. Have fun!
Good job getting him out of there! He would love one of these logs, betta’s like to be near the top of the tank while they sleep for easier access to the top to breathe.

The tall plants were just from an unlabeled pack of bulbs from my local fish store. I think they were labeled “betta bulbs” or something to that effect. Sorry! I hope someone on here knows what they are.

lovely!! If I may add, my betta LOVED the floating log (available on amazon for only a few bucks. (I attached a suction cup to it so it stays in place). He took an immediate liking to it and would sleep in it every night. If you have room for it I'm sure yours will enjoy it too. :)

Amazon! I'm from the UK so they might not have the same version but here's the link to the one I have: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CEBF62U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_bzS0Cb31M89HP (the green fake moss is obviously darker than the photo).
If you're from the US, when I first asked someone about these tubes they said they got theirs from PetSmart :)
I got mine on amazon! Here's the link.
He's a little slow at using it. He kind of just uses the suction cup and not the leaf haha.
Amazon. It's this one. It's definitely my favorite show of all time, for sure.
Hey! My betta and shrimp seem to like them!

If you get bored of that one, or it wears out, or you have room for another, you should try one of the seagrass hammocks like this. Our beardie LOVES to rub himself on it when he's shedding. You can also boil them eventually when you do a deep clean. They hold up fairly well considering the material they're made of.
Here's a picture of the log in action:

And as for pellets, it depends. How big is his mouth? I'd generally recomment Omega One betta buffet, but several people here have said New Life Spectrum still has good ingredients and those pellets are a fair bit smaller than Omega One. Also, Hikari and Ocean Nutrition have both gone to using fish meal, but they do still have a few whole ingredients.
This betta log is great for bettas.
He needs a Betta leaf near the surface, like this one for example.
He would probably also appreciate some live plants or silk fake planets. Bettas like hiding in plants and swimming through them. Plastic fake plants can injure them. Personally, I try to keep a couple of tankmates for Betta as well, a snail or two ( of a kind that don't reproduce in tanks easily ) and maybe some ghost shrimp. Wouldn't get any kind of expensive or small shrimp, as the Betta will try and probably succeed at eating them every once and a while.
You can trim pothos roots. I keep mine in a tiny glass cup in the tank that has suction cups and cut anything that escapes the cup. My pothos is pretty darn big, tiny root tho lololol cup like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QGM3BHT/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_NKY00GJQW1882WC78RE6
Oh that’s just a floating log. I have it tied by fishing line to a suction cup so it stays in place. He really likes it! :) here it is Zoo Med Floating Betta Log https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0027ITKBS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_09A25MRBVF78V3EY50TJ

Normal. You can buy a Betta Leaf that attaches to the glass. They enjoy sitting on that. Place 2 inchs from the top. There is also a betta log.

I’m still new to fishkeeping but I was under the impression it’s common for bettas to lie on objects.. hence the existence of betta hammocks? link

Mine came with 2 in the pack. I just put some gravel and a red plant that wasn’t doing so well in there to try and get it closer to the light to see if it will grow any

I've got a 20 heavily planted lot to do and plenty to flare at...where's the fish? In da log.
Good luck with Franklin.
Some betta like gravel. My solution to provide an elevated gravels space with suction cups on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/TFWADMX-Plant-Aquarium-Aquatic-Suction/dp/B07BXSYQ6Q/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?crid=2RDMI691YZE4Q&keywords=betta+suction+cup+hide&qid=1645430987&sprefix=betta+suc%2Caps%2C88&sr=8-6
