It's called GPU sag, it's really common. Most of the stress is being put on the case where it screws in, not on the motherboard or card.
There are plenty of methods to alleviate it, Lego bricks seem to be a popular one. Alternately, there are more "proper" things you can get, but really anything that won't melt in the case (e.g. most plastics) that can hold it up will suffice.
1060 6GB is probably the best bang for your (300) bucks. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IPVSLTC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_ep_dp_qhF-Ab1NSMRH5
What are your other parts / what games/resolution/FPS do you use?
Just purchased my R5 2600 + RX 580 8GB build that gets here today. I’d definitely go for the 580 right now as it’s only $189.99 on Amazon.
Think of it this way, you’re not just losing the money. You can easily get $100+ for it and upgrade in the near future. But for right now, it’s hands down the best card under $200.
I just got this on amazon to help with sag on my 1080. Mine was sagging less than yours but this was only $20 and an excuse to open up the computer and work on it a little bit.
Atlas Graphics Card Brace Support. A Video Card Holder, GPU brace, for custom Deskto Pc Gaming. a GPU stand case mod. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DQK7DDW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hZVtyb51YN81C
So basically $10 more than a real GTX 1060 with video output and 3 year warranty? Looks like a good deal to me. No warranty and no video output for $10 more.
edit: unless you want dual fans, then they are around $240. so $30 more for video output and warranty.
It won't like break immediately, buy if I understand correctly where you applied the zip ties you are applying force to the power connector of the gpu, and I would not be confident that there won't be a solder point that breaks from that. It would be better to use more zip ties to cover the whole gpu width and hold it up like that.
As an alternative, if you have something you can make a tower with (lego, playmobil, labello, ...) you can support the gpu from below. But there are anti sag brackets like https://www.amazon.com/upHere-Graphics-Anodized-Aerospace-Aluminum/dp/B076GYL25H/ (did not test this one though) that are not expensive and might be worth it for you.
You’re welcome. Not quite MSRP, but this is about as good as it’s gonna get.
Look up "graphics card brace" on amazon. I have the Atlas brand, Fourth level mfg is good too. Holds my 12" card nice and straight. They range from $14 and up. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DQK7DDW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YIauAbW21WGJ0
This or this? The Amazon deal for 250 and 20 rebate the other day.
Heads Up, Amazon matched it again ; https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MF7EQJZ
Might want to keep a eye on the Walmart listing as they usually drop theirs down a couple more dollars after their system notices Amazon matched it.
The one I got is the "upHere Graphics Card GPU Brace Support" on Amazon. It has the upHere logo on it, which I was fine with because my fans are also upHere and have the logo showing for the fans on the bottom. If you want one that doesn't have a logo on it (or don't want to bother painting over it) there is a similarly rated one for just $10 called "CloverTale Graphics Card GPU Brace Support"
Picked up this brace off Amazon. It works really nicely. The sag in my 1070 has always bothered me, and this supports it perfectly. It also looks pretty cool and kinda gives the interior like an engineered/industrial/structural feel. In short, it's neat. Now to tidy up those cables...
From what I've read, card sag doesn't really matter as the bracket and screws support it and the manufacturers (hopefully) accounted for some sag. I got this brace on Amazon though and it's perfect.
Last week, I bought the EVGA GTX 1070 SC Black for $400 ($452 inc tax), but I decided that I no longer want it. I could return it to Amazon, but I thought to give first dibs to this sub. Is anybody interested? Just pay what I paid + shipping (or pickup in London ON).

Edit: The product is sealed and in original conditions. Happy to take a photo tonight if interested.
Same price on Amazon, but free same day shipping if you have prime and not having to deal with Newegg in case something goes wrong.
the 1060's are kind of high priced right now, if you want to save a bit more money but still see a massive boost in performance, i'd recommend the EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC GAMING 4GB, its got an extra gig of memory and runs at USD 159.99 on amazon right now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MF7EQJZ
Is this the same thing?
It's the same price but without the MIR, but I have an Amazon gift card to burn. I don't know anything about B&H shipping, but Amazon Prime always gets here pretty fast.
Here I am thinking of getting one of these while you're over there saving money and getting better results than all these folks in the amazon reviews section... https://www.amazon.com/Graphics-Support-Holder-Gaming-Bitcoin/dp/B01DQK7DDW
or get a rx580 8gb for $10 more, or wait a week for amazon to get it in stock for $190
Amazon isn't selling it for $380. That's a scalper/reseller. Amazon, like Ebay, allows third parties to sell there.
> Note: This item is only available from third-party sellers
There's this MSI Gaming X 1060 on amazon for $260 with a $60 rebate after purchase too, snap that up if you can, good card.
$300 is at or lower than the prices of my first amazon search results for the 1060 6G and 580 8G.

Whether or not your hardware's at risk depends on how much it's sagging. If you wanna fix it though, there are different kinds that you can buy like this one on Amazon. I know MSI sells one for holding up multiple GPU's, too. Alternatively, if your case can support one, you can join the cool kids club and get a vertical GPU mount. I've also seen someone do a cheap DIY solution by tying some thin fishing line to the top of the case and GPU and holding it up that way.
While Oculus Quest sounds like a goid option for you, the cheapest way to get into PCVR right now would be to buy a WMR headset and a cheap 1060 or 970 gpu. the Lenovo WMR has been going on sale for less than $200 and you can get a 1060 on Amazon right now for $284

Personally I think your better off with a Rift, but at least this is an option.
RX 580 159.99
Ryzen 3 2200g 84.99
270 NEW on amazon.
Ebay 580 goes as low at 75.00
Ebay 2200g goes for as low as 41.00
Together 116 + tax n shipping. Prob not a good deal.
Scroll down on the product page there's a "Special offers and product promotions section" there confirming you should've gotten the codes. For example on this model: https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-1386MHz-Graphics-RX-580P8DFD6/dp/B06Y66K3XD/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1537173786&sr=1-3&keywords=rx+580

Edit: I have checked and only Asus strix and Msi models don't have this on Amazon.
I've got a Lian Li o11 dynamic XL, Asus x570 Tuf, Ryzen 7 5800x, and XFX RX 6900XT Merc 319. The gpu is very long, sleek, and a 1 1/2 slot. The Tuf board has Asus' reinforced pcie slot, but still had the very very very slightest of sag. I got an UpHere gpu brace from Amazon, and it solved the problem. It comes in 4 colors including white and black, doesn't interfere with the gpu fans and doesn't standout-so it won't mess with your asthetic. Plus it was $7

I got this and cut the pole a little bit short. Works great
