The Hidden Life of Trees - It's about how trees work and communicate, really makes you look at them differently!
I agree, I always felt like the little changes in the game like when the cherry blossoms fall but only mid spring and the berries that can only be foraged for a few days marked the seasons more than the human made festivals.
This part isn't about Stardew Valley (sorry!) , but I think you might like this book. It's on my mind since I just ordered the second part of the series. It's the most beautiful and informative nature writing I've ever read, and it captures that same sort of interconnected with nature feeling you're talking about .

This book is the single most useful place I've learned from: easy to read, intuitive explanations and also focuses more on the artistic, compositional aspects rather than technical details.
And if you're like to do photography day-trips around Tohoku let me know! I know a couple of other photographers with whom I've occasionally gone to cover events and whatnot.
Speaking of which, I'm thinking of going to Matsushima this Sunday (there should be an airshow of blue impulse, but I haven't figured out the details yet), if you'd like to join.
(Btw, not entirely sure why the age group is important for photography, but I'm 29 if that helps...)
