USB-C hubs?
If you are after USB-A connected hubs, I use the Amazon one with my mid-2014 MBP

It would be well over 500mA - possibly 3A. Would something like this or this (original link) be ok then?
I presume the PC connection is to the USB typeB port and then the type As are to peripheries.
It may be worthwhile to setup Boot Camp to have a physical Windows partition, rather than using a disk image for VMware. You can use the Boot Camp partition as your VM disk. This has the advantage that you can fully boot into Windows if you need the additional performance.
If you don’t need a full dock, I like the AmazonBasics 7- or 10-port powered USB 3 hub. Cheap and just works.
Alfred is my single most-used app/shortcut as a web dev and “power user”.
