I've used the Arkon Foldable Stand since September. It covers just about any angle you want, works for landscape and portrait orientation, carries anywhere, is cheap, and works with cases/covers easily, which while I love the look of the magnus and many other stands, they don't play well with cases, and I'm protecting my ipad.
Nice, but knowing the price of LEGOs, I'm afraid your creation may have cost more the a proper stand.
I find it very useful. I've read comics on it, played games on it and more recently I got this stand for it and put it next to my computer to use as a mini Netflix TV. The speaker isn't the greatest but there is an app that allows you to make it louder. Of course you can also do some casual browsing and pretty much anything else you can do with a tablet. I like the size, it's very easy to type with your thumbs in profile mode. Of course at this point there are some other options so it's up to you.
I have this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CKVOOY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1: And someone else recommended this one which is a grip: https://www.amazon.com/G-Hold-Micro-Suction-Reusable-Swiveling/dp/B01HIUGO6I/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1522193603&sr=8-17&keywords=tablet+grip+suction (that grip isn't the exact one, but can't seem to find it on amazon)

I posted this reply in another thread, but I’ll copy and paste it here.
I bought this folding iPad stand made by Arkon. (I used it to display a custom keyboard on a shelf). It cost $14 at the time.

Later, I needed a second one (for another keyboard). I saw this Amazon Basics folding iPad stand that looked remarkably similar but for a few dollars less:

Out of curiosity, I bought the Amazon Basics one and compared it side by side with the one by Arkon. They are exactly the same!

We bought an Arkon folding tablet stand. What is not shown in the product photos is that the "nose" of the stand can actually rotate forward towards the feet, which makes it perfect for supporting a keyboard for display.
This AmazonBasics adjustable tablet holder stand seems to be a rebranded Arkon folding tablet stand, but cheaper.
This is the stand: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CKVOOY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Calc is Ducky Pocket. Unfortunately, sold out everywhere...

I prefer having using a folding tablet stand like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Folding-Tablet-Stand-Android/dp/B000CKVOOY
I have this one but I only use it for the tablet portion. I'll test in studio mode later: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CKVOOY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Its the Arkon folding tablet stand, makes it easy to use the tablet portion anywhere. In the picture , I use it to prop up the screen in "studio mode". https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CKVOOY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I just wanted to share what I use as an alternative to the built in stand: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7vqen1th0id7vlt/20170308_133547.jpg?dl=0 - it's normally for larger tablets, which is why the top part is so long.
It's one of these, or something very similar: https://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Folding-Tablet-Stand-Android/dp/B000CKVOOY
Oh wow, I have the exact same one but in black.
