I watched all of "The Man in the High Tower on the Shield" and I am working through "Disenchantment" on Netflix. I was using the Amazon Prime Fire Stick https://www.amazon.ca/Stick-Basic-Streaming-Media-Player/dp/B01ETRGE68/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1536456291&sr=8-1&keywords=prime+video+stick but I didn't like the remote to I bought the Shield and unplugged the Roku.
I'm looking at my Shield sign in screen right now. I see Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, Google Play and Nvidia Games. I wish I could delete Nvidia Games as I no interest in games.
This is for Prime in Canada (not US Prime but I don't know if there is a difference). I am near Toronto.
If you bought one that says "This can only be shipped to the UK" - and you used ParcelMotel; it's you're own fault. There are shipping restrictions for a reason. Luckily for you, Amazon is pretty good with returns - so just send it back and stop complaining.
In the interest of helping an Irish brother out... You can get the one that work in Ireland here: https://www.amazon.com/Fire-TV-Stick-Basic-Edition/dp/B01ETRGE68
I'd say... not anytime soon, since they've launched the Fire TV Stick in Canada...
Having said that... My old Roku streaming stick is WAY more reliable... has more channel updates (even if the majority of them are religious, travel, or "oldies" TV and movies)... and has a UI I prefer...
The Fire TV Stick is slick, and has some niceties, but the fact that it drops wireless network connections regularly (2.4 or 5 GHz), and has apps that are a little dodgy (Deezer... which works fine on Roku; Spotify... which showed up in French for me...; etc.), and makes it awkward to launch non-Prime content (always feels an extra step away)... has my Fire TV Stick collecting dust...
So, Prime, CraveTV, and some other things would be nice to see on Roku, but Netflix, Deezer, Britbox, Accuradio, and a bunch of stuff I don't watch (NFL, NHL, etc.) are a good place to be in the interim!
(That, and my Roku stick, ancient though it is... still gets updates!)
> Apple TV is the only set top streamer that supports Amazon Prime Video CANADA officially.
The 'basic' Canadian version of the Amazon Fire TV stick does now too and so does Xbox One, PlayStation, and some Samsung & LG Smart TVs: https://www.amazon.ca/Fire-TV-Stick-Basic-Edition/dp/B01ETRGE68/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1520008189&sr=8-1&keywords=fire+tv+basic
I bought a Fire TV stick a few days ago for my mother specifically for Youtube because her smart TV stopped supporting Youtube (flash > HTML5 switch). I looked it up online and then I learned about this, and after being bounced between a few support rep from Amazon, they offered me a full refund + free shipping back.
What further infuriates me is that they still advertise Youtube on their Fire Stick as seen here. I contacted them when I got the refund that this is gonna be straight up false advertisement in Canada but they didn't give a shit apparently.
Amazon.ca just released an international version of the Fire TV stick. I picked one up last week with next day shipping it cost me $60 with tax ($49.99 before tax). You can load Kodi along with other great APKs to the Fire Stick and it works amazing!! I love it. You can also download and install tons of other apps from the Amazon store right to the stick. Netflix, Hulu, network apps etc.
If you're tight on cash, get the fire tv stick for $50 Canadian delivered.https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01ETRGE68/
No. You cannot buy basic stick in primary countries, this is why you cannot see it in shops.
