- I've decided to finally take the plunge and buy a refractor. I'm debating between the Orion ED80 and the ED80T. Obviously, the ED80T is better because it's a triplet and has better optics. But I don't know if it's worth almost double the cost. Can someone explain what exactly will be better if I get the ED80T? How is a triplet better? Is there any thing I can add to the ED80 that will give me the same results as the ED80T for cheaper?
- I've seen a lot of "focal reducers / field flattners". Can these two be mutually exclusive? Can I get just a field flattner without reducing the focal length?
- I have a Nikon D5200 and a 1.25" adapter and a t-ring - which I thought would also double up as a 2", but apparently it doesn't. Can someone explain the differences between these? They mostly look the same, except some of them say 48mm and some 42mm. What are these numbers? I want to use my D5200 with my Celestron C8 or the refractor that I will buy now. Knowing this, which adapter should I buy?
