I've decided to finally take the plunge and buy a refractor. I'm debating between the Orion ED80 and the ED80T. Obviously, the ED80T is better because it's a triplet and has better optics. But I don't know if it's worth almost double the cost. Can someone explain what exactly will be better if I get the ED80T? How is a triplet better? Is there any thing I can add to the ED80 that will give me the same results as the ED80T for cheaper?
I've seen a lot of "focal reducers / field flattners". Can these two be mutually exclusive? Can I get just a field flattner without reducing the focal length?
