It's not actually a lip balm, but the lanolin used for nipple cream for breast feeding is the most awesome lip balm I've ever used. Here's a link to it on Amazon. I found out about it via /r/skincareaddiction and holy shit it works awesome. If my lips should get cracked/dry, it fixes them within like a day and a half.
I know it sounds crazy, but nipple cream. Yes- cream for chafed nipples which happens when breastfeeding (apparently?! And sounds no bueno). It’s lanolin has a vaseline consistency, and comes in a purple tube. Holy grail for super dry and chapped lips: Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream, 100% Natural Lanolin Cream for Breastfeeding, 1.41 oz Tube https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MI648C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_sxLvCbVHBEY2Z
I’m not trans, I do have a trans daughter, but she has not started hormones yet. On the other hand, I have breastfed 4 kids. Go buy yourself nipple cream. It’s also great for chapped lips and wind burnt cheeks and such. You should be able to find it in the baby section at target/Walmart quite easily.
I use the Kikumasamune Sake Skin Lotion High Moist on my body and it's very hydrating for my dry body skin. It's a hydrating toner so it sinks in fast and has arbutin and licorice extract for brightening. A 500ml bottle is under $15 on Amazon Prime so it's budget friendly (a bottle lasts me 3 months with twice daily full body use). It does smell like sake though. The Illi Total Aging Care Body Lotion is also fantastically hydrating and silky but it has a strong scent to it.
For lips, the absolute best thing for me is aquaphor topped with lansinoh HPA lanolin (marketed as nipple cream; 100% medical grade lanolin). It'll heal cracked lips overnight for me (I'm a stress lip biter)! A $9 tube of lanolin lasts me over 6 months with very heavy use.
You could try some lanolin cream that is made for breastfeeding. I usually find it in the "baby stuff" aisle at the pharmacy. A lot of people also use it on their lips so nobody will think anything of it.

Lanolin was my best friend with my first. It stains shirts and bras, but when the nips start bleeding, I stop caring.
It's also safe for baby ❤️ (and great on dry hands/lips)
Yes! I liked Lanolin cream (like this one). Definitely get it in advance. It's crucial during the first week when mother & baby are figuring out the whole breastfeeding business. Even waiting 2 days for Prime delivery can feel like eternity for tender nipples which are just getting used to breastfeeding.
Lanolin (this one specifically is the only thing that works for my lips when they are chapped; a doctor recommended it to me ages ago for severely chapped lips and it works great.
I’m not familiar with what Tret is or AC, however.
I don't deal with that exactly, but the dryness of the winter + my mouth guard have me waking up with the corner of my mouth so dry that is cracks. The only thing that stops it is Lanolin cream. Here's the exact one I use. Its a nipple cream, but if you look at the reviews, you can see that its popular for chapped lips!
Here is what I said.

Lanolin. Safe for silicone. Leaves skin moisturized. Can be found with nursing supplies in most pharmacies/grocery/big box stores. And online: https://www.amazon.com/Lansinoh-Lanolin-Breastfeeding-Soothing-Essentials/dp/B005MI648C/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=lanolin&qid=1617906161&sr=8-3
If you're having a problem with dry skin, I recommend a substance called lanolin. It's amazing, and it works better than petroleum jelly. This product is advertised for breastfeeding women, but you can put this stuff anywhere on your body. I use it every night on my lips.
I got mine off Amazon:
Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream, 100% Natural Lanolin Cream for Breastfeeding, 1.41 ... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MI648C/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_GXPFCb70C9NJB
You could probably also find it at places like CVS or even the grocery. It is for nursing mothers, so don’t get put off by the name of the product lol.
For dry lips, my holy grail product was pure lanolin. Head over to the baby section of the store and get some pure lanolin nipple cream. Here's an amazon link to the kind I get that you can find at most drug stores Just putting a small bit on my lips twice a day is the only thing that helped them when frigid winters would lead to them being dry and cracked all the time.
I bought 100% lanolin (Lansinoh) instead of trying the Tatcha and I love it. Have been using it since the first of February pretty much every night and the tube still feels completely full. It is thicker than Vaseline and Aquaphor (I carry aquaphor in my purse and it's basically my "lipstick" now so I don't ruin all my masks). Because I always rub aquaphor into my cuticles whenever I squeeze out excess, I automatically try to do the same with the lanolin. The lanolin is definitely more "mask-like" and doesn't sink in relatively quickly the way Aquaphor does.
Also, I double checked: right now, Amazon is showing this for $8.12 and that is exactly what I paid on January 30th, too.

Made for breastfeeding folks! Works better than lip balm, Vaseline, and aquaphor
You can find it in the baby section at most pharmacies, though I personally just order it off amazon. It’s marketed as nipple cream (not sexy but it works like a charm).
I also use it on my lips and it’s wonderful! I layer it over Aquaphor or use it by itself under lipstick.
I ALSO use it on dry spots when needed! Lanolin is my favorite multi purpose product. As with anything, do patch test it since some people do have a Lanolin allergy.
This stuff is the shit. It doesn't smell and isn't sticky like regular lanolin, and it's definitely safe for lips. I use this when nothing else is working or to help heal up the end of a cold sore. It's the best.
After scrubbing, try applying this lanolin salve on them. My friend swears by it after she used it for her nipples when breastfeeding. I've yet to use personally- I think I lost the tube I ordered but give it a shot.
Would this be the product that you're using?
Oh, I will most definitely look into Aquaphor!
Best thing I can recommend is Lanolin. Yes, it's for breastfeeding mothers' nips, but that stuff works. I used to reapply aquaphor once an hour or so, but I only needed to reapply lanolin once every 6 hours.
No lip balm worked for me like lanolin did. I'd apply it and go 5-6 hours without needing to reapply it (keep in mind that my course was also during the winter time. Started in January and finished in June).
I really recommend getting some Lanolin that they sell in the breastfeeding aisle to help with the chapped lips. Occasionally mine will get really bad, but the lanolin will help them get better so much faster than any chapstick.
I'll just leave this here. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005MI648C/
Another commenter mentioned nipple balm, which I also came to recommend !!
Lanolin is exactly what you’re looking for
OOOOOH yes my skin was literally peeling off in chunks. This is a lifesaver and safe for baby if you choose to breastfeed!

Lanosh Lanolin Nipple Cream. The texture is similar to Vasoline. My lips love it!
Dunno if that’s what it’s made from. It has the consistency of petroleum jelly: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MI648C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TJH95E3PPE49DBJ9AWFV
I put a dab of weleda skin food on for the hydration, and then a layer of lanolin as occlusive. Works like a charm and cheap as hell.
This is more elegant lanolin, doesn’t have a color or scent: https://www.amazon.com/Lansinoh-Lanolin-Breastfeeding-Soothing-Essentials/dp/B005MI648C
This one is thicker and stays on better: https://www.amazon.com/NOW-Solutions-Lanolin-Environment-Protectant/dp/B000I1OYNK
New mom too, and a few days ahead of you. Day 2 was the roughest for me when it came to figuring out positions too.
There are several Breastfeeding Positions you can try. Personally, the cradle works best for me, but as you can see it varies greatly from person to person. So try some of these and hopefully you find something that works well for you two.
Additionally - make sure baby is latching properly, and taking not just the nipple in their mouth, but most of the areola too. When it’s just the nipple - it can get really sore. (We were not latching properly and it caused some temporary damage that caused feedings to be pretty painful)
Getting yourself some good nipple cream! I’ve tried a few, but the most effective for me this far (and the one the Pediatrician recommended) has been Lanolin
Hope some of this helps. Above all, remember that you got this! Best of luck OP.
Ok hang on bud. Is/was there blood? Sounds like they might have gotten super chafed and now it's time for some classic nip wound care. They're pretty resilient. If it doesn't induce crazy dysphoria, the following might help (tw for chestfeeding, and links for products marketed for breastfeeding):
Basically it sounds like some t*tty wound care is in order, and truly there's a ton of products that can help from the chestfeeding world, if that's not too dysphoria-inducing. I also support checking in with a trusted medical provider about this, but also, nips can take a lot, and there are things out there that might help. These are just some ideas and not intended to provide medical advice. Good luck bro!!!!
So hear me out… nipple cream for breastfeeding would help!! this is the one I used and it works!! And it’s safe for lips (it’s safe for babies so…)
aiight lemme put you on
Nipple balm: Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream for Breastfeeding, 1.41 Ounces https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MI648C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_BCG844WD6K5P989D9W51?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Lanolin is the best ingredient for chapped lips. You don’t need fancy expensive lip products to make them smoother.
Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream is very popular for lips. It is originally used for chafed nipples but who cares? The tube is convenient for on the go and it’s less than $9.
I opted for a jar of pure Lanolin since you get 7oz for the same price. I just transfer it in little mini jars for convenience.
At night, put a warm wash cloth over the lips for a minute or so to loosen the skin, rub it gently with the cloth. If it hurts STOP! Then slather on Lanolin before bed, it is very sticky so you need to get used to the feeling.
For maintenance, I mixed some Lanolin with Vaseline and use it as an everyday balm.
>Will the lotions and Vaseline be bad for the mask?
IDK about the lotions, but I'd be wary of Vaseline as it might cause the mask to deteriorate faster.
>I'd there a mask or type of mask that might be better for wearing lotion at night, like nasal pillows vs full face?
If you're going to have anything on your face, then the pillows are going to be a better option. Pillows are also easier to maintain a seal because there's less surface area touching the face. Given the choice, most people prefer pillows.
If you absolutely have to have some sort of lubricant, try Lansinoh. Just a tiny dab, smaller than a pea, is enough to cover the entire full face cushion. It can help to prevent small leaks and keep them from turning into larger leaks. Mask liners like remzzzs might help instead.

is really good for cracked skin. you can get it at Target or a pharmacy as well.
I'm not sure about the color, but I find that a little bit of lanolin really nourishes my lips more than any marketed lip balm. You can find it in the drugstore under nipple ointment or get a big size here
Lanolin like this, right? I got a 3-pack and use it as lip balm for now. It's amazing!
It's straight up voodoo magic.
