What is the crowd's opinion of Plugable 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub with 36W Power Adapter?

I have a mibox s and a mibox 3. And no it doesn’t need to be powered. I have several miboxes connected with a portable hdd. If you need more than one portable hdd connected you would need a powered usb hub with enough current for both hdds to work.

This one is the one I purchased and haven’t had any issues with, but it only powers 2 portable hdds.

I haven’t tried external powered hdds with just a regular usb hub but I wouldn’t see why that wouldn’t work

It's product description kind of gears towards VR headsets. It's 1.5amps on 2 of the 7 ports.

It took a while to find one that isn't .900ma. Not a lot of options for high power USB.

I've seen my headset pull 1.265amps but it was just a quick spike. It averaged around 0.800amps but would spike over 0.900 on startup, shutdown, and during gaming.

Is this reliable? I haven't heard of plugable.

I have almost this exact setup (right down to the 38GN950) With some modifications.

I have a powered 7 port USB 3.0 hub:

- Keyboard

- Mouse

- Audioengine A2+ speakers

- Schiit Hel Headphone Dac/Amp

- Monitor's USB Hub downstream output (the monitor has 2 usb 3.0 ports with one downstream output) Plugged into the monitor's hub are a Webcam and Xbox One wireless controller adapter dongle.

The 7 port hub's downstream output then plugs into a 1 input 2 output USB 3.0 sharing switch

This takes one input and switches that between 2 outputs (to the Mac and my Desktop)

This only seems to get 75hz out of the hdmi connection which is fine for me since I used the mac for work mainly.

I have zero issues. I flip back and forth between my Speakers and Headpone DAC on my Mac and PC all the time. Works great. And there are no issues with the webcam, keyboard or mouse.

I do think that it is important that the USB hub be sufficiently powered as I did have some issues using an older hub initially.

I have a set of rx 570 4gb and recently had an issue with their 19.3 and 19.4 driver update. I had to roll it back to 19.1.1. It was causing blue screens and caused some of my tracks on iRacing to crash to desktop.
