As per usual, technology is far cheaper in the US. The Steam controller is £36 on Steam, or £73 on Amazon.
I'd recommend buying it from Amazon instead, buying one with a case right now and it's only $65. Might take a little longer but there's no way I'm spending nearly $100 on a controller that I'll use like once a month.
Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller/dp/B016KBVBCS/ref=sr_1_3?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1492874492&sr=1-3&keywords=steam+controller) $49.99 + $33.10 (shipping & import fees) ~ 54000 CLP
Todos vienen con el dongle, la estacion y el cable. En mi opinion el control vale cada peso, sobre todo comparado a los controles "tontos" de la competencia.
it actually can its just ridiculously overpriced. even says i can get it tomorrow if i order now
Another user here recommended www.myus.com. We offer the same service as Myus, just cheaper.
We charge you the exact cost of obtaining an item and shipping it. We do not make our profits from overcharging customers, which is what MyUS and other freight forwarders do.
We make our profit margin from obtaining affiliations with online stores from purchasing so much with them.
We have had a fantastic run with Amazon so far and can provide our buyers with a 5% discount on all purchases. As time goes on we will be able to provide additional exclusive deals to the most popular stores.
Remember that when saving money with Buildapcproxy you are not just saving moeny. You are expanding our reach and saving even more users money in the future!
To answer your question,
This steam controller is on sale for $49.99. We offer an exclusive 5% off Amazon discount. Sales tax and Paypal fees add up to an estimated $7. This makes your initial payment $54.37 USD. Once we receive the item, we must charge you to ship it out. We can estimate $45 USD. This brings the total to $99.37. This is $133.27 in AUD.
While gmessad's recommendation is great, I would say the Steam Controller is a super solid choice too. If you can wait a bit, GameStop and Amazon have deals on them pretty often. If you have basically any existing PC gamepads you'll be fine while you wait.
If you don't mind used (my controller has been indestructible the year and a half I've had it), Amazon has a used one with Prime for $35 https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS?th=1
The retail version. My bad, that's $285 lately. https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=332UEQDWPDCFE&keywords=Steam+Controller&qid=1668597703&sprefix=steam+controller%2Caps%2C174&sr=8-3
At any rate, finding Steam controllers online are expensive AF. Glad I got mine.
I'd just go with the Xbox One or PS4 controllers, or wait to buy a DualSense. The Steam Controller is awesome, but I don't know if Shadow relays all of it's extra functions. I'd recommend asking friends who have XB1s and PS4s if you can see how their controllers feel in your hands, or ask one with a Steam Controller if you can test it.
That's my point dude, Amazon is one of the few places that has the Steam Controller.
Sorry for late reply...
Your previous replier is right about everything yet the price you put as $130 is too step so you better watch other sites of selling such as this or others which are slightly cheaper yet with lots and lots of added costs including resellers commission+handling+++.
It's not yet announce but Steam/Valve did the very same thing with Steam Link, although their most often 90% was an indication of Steam was going to be phased out and it did eventually in favor of software Link App which isn't a real replacement at all. Considering all other Steam's hardware ventures end up ~~dead~~ in the end, it's highly probable that Steam Controller could be the last victim.
Problem is Valve insisted on US based production and distribution while they could have made an agreement with Isle of Production Asian well known manufacturers instead to cut down their costs while keeping their World Wide distribution network. Yet their patriotism (or w/e else) lead to high production costs and double costs at shipping making it literally unaccessible for the rest of World, including Canada like you said.
It's their choice and won't going to get surprised if seeing Controller would become extinct around next year or so after clearing out their stocks due low sales of their previous bad choices.
Ah, OK. Well, if the PS4 controller turns out to be a bust, I'll try the Steam comtroller which you can get at Amazon for $35.
Can also be purchased directly from Steam, or off Newegg. I didn't check around for pricing, so you might wanna do that.
The steam controller has even better Linux support and is roughly the same price: https://www.amazon.ca/Valve-Steam-Controller-Windows-Linux/dp/B016KBVBCS/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1480465077&sr=1-1&keywords=steam+controller
Even for windows I would definitely recommend the steam controller over this
Use the DP/LS/RS switch. Steam big picture requires a binding for left stick X and Y axis to be able to save a controller profile in big picture.
However, it is indeed off topic. This thread is specific to the steam controller API update that allows Dualshock 4 controllers(and ONLY Dualshock 4 controllers) to function as Steam Controllers through Steam, which SFV PC accepts along with keyboard and XInput.
They sell it on Amazon, you might be able to pick it up there.
Plus, they have a much better return policy than Valve so if you don't like it you don't have to suffer.
They sell them on Amazon.
You might be able to pick it up there :)
They don't sell the skins their yet though. There are some third parties that sell skins however.
Idk but Steam controllers were on sale for $35 on Amazon yesterday. Let me see, yep still are
No such behavior for me too. That's the link I got from the OP post:
No referral code.
Edit: I'm using internal browser BTW - it might revert the link to normal when opened in external browser.
I'm on sync pro (not sure what version, I can check if people actually care), and am not seeing this. I clicked the build a pc sales link you included, it opened in chrome automatically to give me the following link
Potential differences from your thing are my specific version of sync pro (I'll go check now), and having it open in chrome vs syncs internal browser.
Edit: version 11.6.3
I was going to say that it's on Amazon India (albeit imported from the USA), but that's more than three times the price I paid for it here in Canada. I hope it becomes available soon there.
wait, what? ... I, from EU, can go to amazon.com and they'll ship it directly to me (and fun fact, amazon has a store on my own country, too).
most things won't be shipped - but I just checked, and the steam controller will - well, to EU. but IDK why would it be different to any other place - I even saw a guy from india saying he got it there! ... I mean, a thing either ships internationally or it doesn't...
PS: shipping to EU is $24ish. (yep, from amazon.com)
EDIT: check for yourself
Was only around $59 USD including shipping which I figure can't be too much above what they'll charge here when it's released (probably even cheaper).
You should be able to order it from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS
EDIT: Seems they're out of stock at the moment though, you could also buy one (possibly secondhand) on Ebay or get one forwarded to you from the US
Yeah, I'd really recommend wireless. The XBOX 360 controller comes with a really long wire, and since I play on a laptop, I play sometimes on the couch or on the floor or just in front of the laptop. This lead to some wear and tear of the wire. And it was a hassle to fold it every time! So I'd recommend wireless if you're like me.
The Steam controller's $49.99 on Amazon.
So, get it from Amazon
Our best instrument of change is our wallet. It's sad so few use it.
Given that all the feedback has been (at least in Australia) that the retail stores don't even have the controller in their system, I doubt we're going to see an Australian release any time soon.
I've been considering ShopMate (Australian version of YouShop) as I use it for a lot of Amazon purchases. I guess I have to region-spoof my account on steam to buy it though - anyone know if that will get me in trouble? I know that when I tried to purchase an Oculus Rift DK2 they blocked me from using a forwarding address and refunded my order...
Honestly, if the official launch date rolls around and they still haven't announced it, just go for YouShop - Valve aren't going to announce the Australia/NZ launch one or two days after the worldwide launch, and the forwarding services will only add the extra couple days it takes from Valve -> US address.
I REALLY hope this doesn't happen with the Vive. At the very least don't block me from on-forwarding the damned thing.
EDIT: Turns out Valve are selling on Amazon for Controller + Link - that way you can avoid spoofing your location on Steam which can get your account in trouble. http://smile.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1445922263&sr=1-1&keywords=steam+controller
Steam Link is $19.99.
Both also available on Amazon for the same price: https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS

The Steam Controller is $20 off on Amazon right now. Fantastic time to pick it up.

Steam Controller and Steam Link price matched at Amazon. Helps defer shipping costs with Prime
Steam Controller $34.99 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016KBVBCS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Steam Link $34.99 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016XBGWAQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Amazon will ship you one to Australia: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B016KBVBCS/
I ordered one in November and it arrived quite quickly - 13 days https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/3s8ugv/amazon_is_now_shipping_the_steam_controller_to/cwvv1u1
It ended up costing just under $100 including shipping.
Just get it off Amazon. You can get Steam Link from there as well.
I don't know, but Amazon do and have the same price (plus $8.67US for shipping one of them which will take "9-12 business days").

Steam Controller is $35 shipped with Prime on Amazon right now and includes a free case so you may want to consider lowering your price.
https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS
You can also buy it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller/dp/B016KBVBCS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485366517&sr=8-3&keywords=Steam+Controller
@mariux -- maybe it's available on amazon.no?
Looks like you can still buy it sa amazon
Downside is it's above 10k so tax, might be worth it using a forwarder or just have it ship directly (kasi minsan if di naman significant yung amount, binabalik ni amazon yung ph tax)
https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS
This one is Amazon but hella expensive
Apparently amazon has some stock but you really gotta want it.
As far as I can tell, not unless you want to shell out $150CAD on Amazon
To the people who downvoted this have you ever tried playing session on a steam controller?

Although I wasn't dumb enough to pay £89.95 I paid £4 :]
It's not sold in Canada. You can buy it from Amazon USA for $77 USD.

Tons of stuff is on sale at the moment, including the Steam Controller.
That's good! I actually have an idea. A steam controller does the same thing as a trackpad, so maybe you could use that instead. They're on sale right now too, you can save $15. https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS?th=1

The Steam Link doesn't come with one, but the controller is currently on sale from $50 to $35 https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller/dp/B016KBVBCS/
I can get round trip tickets to Korea, buy some stuff for 6,000 yen, and still save some money because they want 30,000+ for the same exact thing in Japan.
Japan has huge import tariffs. Usually ~8% import, 8% consumption, and 5% landing tax (aka processing/inspection fee) for anything over 10,000 yen.
Then if you're importing it for personal use, another 8% sales tax.
Some goods, like leather shoes, have a 30% import fee.
I can buy a $500 USD retail part, listed wholesale value (according to customs office) of $300. By the time it lands at my front door, I've paid an additional $92 in fee's.
That's why you get this listed for $34 in the USA (on sale, normally $50)
And ¥ 8,980 ($79.61 USD) in Japan
You can look at lots of imported products and compare the costs local to you all day.

Have you considered a gamepad instead? The Steam Controller does a decent job at replacing your keyboard / mouse combo. Here's an action video of it being used in CS:GO.
Albeit it feels weird to a lot of people. But for use on a couch this might be your best bet.

A 4k monitor alone is going to cost 300-1000$ and the hardware needed to run it is going to cost ~1k - 3k.
I made this a few days ago, but it should server you well

for a case, I had a zalmand t5 because it was on sale, but a case is a case is a case, so simply look at the form factor of your motherboard (mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, or ATX) and find a case you think looks good and will fit your motherboard.
for a GPU get a r7 360 or commit to PC gaming, sell your console and spend 150-200$ on a r9 380 or 380x which will let you run 1440p monitors.
PS: check out http://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS
I mostly agree with your assment of controllers in general and I'll not be swapping it out to play dota (yet)
However the steam controller isn't a controller of the past. The touch pads do not behave like analog sticks, they emulate them (and other devices).
By emulating a trackball in feel the Steam Controller gets around the problem laptop touchpads have with their small surface area by allowing you to flick "the ball" for rapid moments while still allowing 1:1 precise movements. Having a touchpad emulate a trackball gets around the problem of hair or dirt messing up the ball bearings that makes these solutions impractical.
I use a trackball at work and if they made a gaming model with 4+ thumb buttons I'd use it for dota (the programmable Logitech G700s is too useful for me to let go of just yet).
So, can a controller replace a mouse a keyboard? It's awkward, not yet.
Can the Steam Controller's touchpad/trackball emulation compete with mouse input. Yes!
The device is starting to replace keyboard and mouse in single player games for me and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Mark II version that comes out that will allow work for dota. If you have a large library of steam games, the steam controller is worth the $50 + shipping.
Have you tried amazon.com?
http://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS
They are in the US at least..
I dont know about the PS4 controller, but I have heard nothing but good things about the Steam Controller.
As far as building a PC goes PCPartPicker is a good spot to see other builds and get a rough idea of what you can afford. I would build in PCPartPicker, and then keep an eye for those components in /r/buildapcsales.
All that being said the Alpha is not terrible for an extremely small format PC (a little larger than an xbox controller).
Maybe look on Amazon.com? Looks like they still have a release date of Nov 10th.
Guys you should report on amazon the steam controller for lower price so that amazon will price match. If enough of us dod it they will match the price.
https://www.amazon.com/Steam-Controller-SteamOS/dp/B016KBVBCS/
I really want a Steam controller.
