I don't know if they are private, dedicated or servers from epic games, but there are a lot, the thing is the player base is really small.

For several years now, Darkelarious from 333networks hosts an own masterserver for the Unreal and Unreal Tournament community. Since it came out that GameSpy will shut down all services, this project became very known in the UT world, so that 333networks masterserver is used by a big numer of Unreal and Unreal Tournament server admins.

Nevertheless, the masterserver software written by Darkelarious is a multi master, which means that it can actually support a big number of games affected by GameSpy. The server list is brought to the players in light speed due to high performant software.
