There are a few differences:

  • Abra is a client-side bitcoin wallet, whereas Coinbase holds funds on their customers' behalf.

  • Abra supports holding, sending, and receiving over 50 different currencies. Coinbase only supports a small handful of currencies.

  • Abra supports buying and selling bitcoin (and other currencies) with cash via Abra Tellers.

  • Customers have told us they like our customer service better, but this is subjective and I'm sure Coinbase support people are really nice too.
