What is the crowd's opinion of BigCommerce?

Looks nothing like bigcommerce.com IMHO. Crappy graphics, site looks like it was put together by a 5 year old child.

4 months old, no way to contact the sites operators. I'd avoid this one like the plague.

If you want to gamble with crypto you really need to start doing some reading. Don't gamble with money you can't afford to lose. There are lots of sharks in the crypto pool, you don't want to end up as fish food do you?

I have setup websites for my various business ventures; from a simple 123-reg.co.uk single page hosted for only a few pound/dollars a month through to website's I built myself using templates off sites like www.themeforest.net through to more custom and expensive solutions.

Ecommerce solutions can cost £1000's to setup and £100's to manage monthly, depending on the complexity.

So, it does depend on the business you run and what you need the website to do. For example, is the website required to:

1. Make sales
2. Generate Enquires
3. Purely supporting information
4. Portfolio

These aren't the only choices, just some examples. If you intend to sell goods there are plenty of low cost options like Bigcommerce.com or open source solutions like Magento with plenty of small one man band developers who may only charge a few hundred to setup or a larger agency who will setup and manage costing into the £1000's.

I have seen one business start selling on Ebay for the first year, then move to their own ecommerce system once they had established both a user base and an understanding of what their business requirements were, by this point they had already started making sales in excess of £200,000 per month.

Not sure if that helps, but more specifics about what you mean as a 'website' would help give a more relevant response.

I agree with the other commenters. If you're going to go it alone, and don't know languages like PHP, Magento won't be easy. It's open source, but it's robust and highly flexible and extensible. It's not always the best solution for a startup.

Is there something specific that made you feel that Magento was the best fit for you? (ie. Are there any features or functionality that you felt you'd get out of Magento but perhaps not a solution like Bigcommerce.com?)

For many merchants, Magento is absolutely a better fit, but it's not a one-size-fits-all. Alternatively, you might consider using Zoey.com which is built on Magento, but is SaaS with a lot less backend setup and maintenance... However, Zoey starts at a higher price point than some SaaS solutions.

I am really happy with BigCommerce. I was using some of their apps to help me advertise my products. The one I liked the most is Clever AdWords, it really helped me boost the traffic of my store. Which apps do you use and recommend? Do you have any suggestions?
