My SO and I do this with google calendar. I have 3 calendars synced on my phone:
Work Exchange Calendar
Personal Google Calendar
Shared Google Calendar
I use an app on my iphone/ipad called Calendars 5 just because I like how it looks/works. Not necessary though.
