You could use a service that is _actually_ managed (as opposed to the "managed" you experienced, double-quotes and all), such as Cloudsmith (https://cloudsmith.com), which operates as a fully-featured SaaS rather than the "here's an instance" model. Plus it supports almost all of the formats that Artifactory does (and some that it doesn't).
There are other alternatives out there, plus self-hosted of course, but YMMV. :-)
