I'm feeling what you feel too. There was a group back that made a visual novel about a harem of disabled girls. Unfortunately I do not know jack shit the details to make something like that or the willingness to learn to do all that alone, or even improve my slightly above average drawing skills (mainly so I can draw faster).

I think the first step is to put yourself out there with something to show. There's this software called ComiPo! which will help immensely for people like you and me. I have not bought it yet as I'm not an early adopter of new technology and I'm also waiting to see if there is an ecchi or hentai component. I'm confident with my writing skills. I'll show something, perhaps I'll play with ComiPo next year as I'm not anxious to do anything yet. There is also the Ren'Py software to help you make visual novels. I just know these two software exist, and nothing much about their details other than fleeting glances.

Prove you know how to tell a story. You don't need to know anyone yet, I recommend getting recognition first.
