- No self-promotion or blogspam of any kind.
Sorry but its right there, that being said you are going to have to complete with a free MS Project compatible software like GanttProject which has been in development and improved upon since 2003.

In response to the Project Management/Milestone issues, it occurred to me that a good initial ice-breaker for this would be what PM tool to use.
I personally think that they're useful, when used correctly.
It does occur to me that this is a licensing/OS issue, and I started looking up OpenOffice-esque alternatives.
It seems some people use:
- The Gannt Project
- OpenProj
- OpenWorkbench - but the sourceforge/site seems to have imploded
