I have posted before about printing the CT scans from my Tib/Fib spiral fracture. The two software packages to look at are InVesalius and 3D Slicer.

Quick and dirty demo (free if you have a Vive and Tiltbrush)

  1. Get a DICOM scan that will render to 3d (CT)
  2. Get Invesalius http://www.cti.gov.br/invesalius/
  3. Open the DICOM in Invesalius and compute a layer
  4. Export the layer to a .obj file with a .mtl
  5. Import the obj into tiltbrush

You can now see the 3d scan in VR and scale/rotate it as you want.

I used Invesalius to print the CT scans of my Tib/Fib spiral fracture. 3DSlicer is also good at converting CT and MRI DICOM files. For both, there are tutorials on isolating structures for printing.
