Was KeePass 2 angeht empfinde ich ähnlich, gibt zwar haufenweise alternative Plugins, allerdings bestehen bei mir prinzipiell Zweifel an der Sicherheit und um den Quelltext selber durchzugehen bin ich zugegebenermaßen dann doch zu faul. https://www.kee.pm/, wie schon vorher erwähnt, soll aber sicher sein und ist seit Ewigkeiten in Entwicklung.

Wer aber keine externen KeePass-Plugins im DB-Manager verwenden möchte, dem kann ich KeePassXC und das Browser-Plugin KeePassXC-Browser ans Herz legen. Das Plugin wird nativ unterstützt, ist von den selben Entwicklern, quelloffen und irgendwie gefällt mir KeePassXC in der Bedienung und Oberfläche auch viel besser. Das Plugin funktioniert einwandfrei und erfordert meistens keinen Userinput und im schlimmsten Fall 2 Klicks.

Hierfür gibt es seit neuestem KeePassDX. Material Design, Autofill (Auch unter 8.x), Fingerabdruck und viele weitere komfortable Funktionen.

Valider Punkt. Sofern man ein starkes Passwort wählt kann man aber getrost auf Lösungen wie Google Drive oder Dropbox zurückgreifen.

Ist auch nichts dran auszusetzen. Ich möchte mit diesem Post nur aufzeigen, dass die generellen Probleme des Komforts von KeePass mittlerweile mit ein paar Minuten Erstaufwand keine Rolle mehr spielen falls man sich die monatlichen Gebühren sparen möchte und auf ein Verfahren zurückgreifen möchte, was nun über ein Jahrzehnt lang in Benutzung ist und unter ständiger Überprüfung steht.

This also requires the RPC plug-in. This as long as you fill in the correct url in your password entries in KeePass it will automatically fill your login details when your database is unlocked. I found it way better then the http plugin from a convenience p.o.v. I even managed to get my computer illiterate dad to use it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to make some time for regular newsletters and/or posts on the community forum (which you can already subscribe to via email if you want) once I've got this Android work finished.

I've just updated https://www.kee.pm/open-source/ to help reduce the confusion for future readers. For example, I'm referring to "infrastructure" now rather than "server", to avoid confusion with alternatives like BitWarden where the server code might have some bearing on the overall security of the password manager.

I have been using KeePass on both Linux and Windows for years. I am using KeeFox in Thunderbird, and Kee in Firefox. Both extension are from the same developer (https://www.kee.pm).

Thought y'all would either get a kick out of this one or it would make your blood boil (had the latter effect on me.) Check out this little gem of a paragraph from the blog post:

Aye man ... WHAT? Isn't it drop dead obvious KeePass can be used across multiple machines via your own backend? And you can find a well and actively developed Firefox extension right here. Good God. I don't think Iv'e ever written a response email that fast in my life.
