Honestly I don't know what you mean "productive". I personally use Kontact suite and it is "productive" for me. I can't assume however whether it will be "productive" for you as well or not :\

not related but you may like to enable/ uncomment canonical partners in sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list and install MS corefonts and codecs/

This will have zero negative impact on your install. Its just qt packaged. Dont install anything else from kubuntu though.

Your case sounds very similar to mine, moved from Kubuntu recently to KDE Neon, as I would like the latest KDE elements.

1. I primarily used Evolution as my groupsuite program (and probably still think it's the best available). To get yourself running just use Evolution, download it in the Discover store and set-up as before. I have managed to get Kontact (the KDE equivalent suite to Evolution see: https://kontact.kde.org/) to give me the same level of functionality, just took time to get the setup to the same level, but it's all there. Run them side-by-side for a while it you like, then pick your favourite. I am sticking with Kontact for now.
2. No experience with timeshift, I relied on Deja Dup for years. I am currently running my first fresh backup with the KDE Kup backup tool. Integrates very nicely into the KDE desktop, but will not know how good it really is until I need it. Since Ubuntu 18.04LTS is the base (soon to be 20.04LTS) anything that I have run on Ubuntu has run on KDE neon, the only thing I do notice is that not all the recommended addons are not added by default (Libreoffice looked weird until I noticed the KDE integration addon was missing, but it's all there in Discover).
3. If you have your hard drive partitioned with a separate /home folder and are comfortable enough with the install process, I would say definitely try if you have enjoyed the KDE experience. Compared to Ubuntu and Kubuntu I find Neon to be much quicker to use and so far no real issues than just taking the time to get all the settings how I like them. Take the time to go through the different app options, really pays off.

well having two separate entries in the time grid also isn't that nice (at least for me).

I'm probably also going to export my agenda as ical and use it in combination with the Event Calendar widget in KDE. May I ask whats your workflow on this? Are you automatically exporting the agenda on changes, or how do you keep it in sync?

(btw the KDE guys also developed Kontact which I often recommend to non emacs users)

I've also stumbled across org-timeline which gives at least some kind of visual representation for durations in the agenda thus it's not exactly what I want.
