It is... something I consider to be a questionable choice and which caused me to remove and replace it with FeatherPad from LXQt, with all UI elements but the menu bar turned off.

(I've already got GVim for programming. When I ask for notepad.exe, I want something light, quick to start, and with a minimal UI... not Notepad++)

I used to use Leafpad (with a nicer GTK+ theme than in the screenshot), which was even closer to notepad.exe, but that didn't get ported from GTK+ 2.x.

Tried that; (and retried); no effect. There are plenty of descriptions for everything; just tags seem to be lacking in linuxmint repos.
