The app was once sold and updated by Mariner Software, but they dropped it and let the original developer ( https://danschimpf.com/ ) take over. I'm making an assumption that the guy probably has a regular job and is doing this as a hobby. I don't think there is still a fee for the app at this point so I doubt it generates income, so it must be pretty overwhelming to support the app and updates are infrequent.
