What is the crowd's opinion of Memex?

For pdf annotations on Windows I use Foxit reader, on Android acrobat reader. For highlighting web-content (pdfs, articles) I'm still looking for a good solution but will maybe stick to Memexor hypothesis. On iOS there's Command Browser (one time purchase) I already use and love for webcontent- and they have Android on their roadmap too.. if that's the case I know where I belong ;)

Organising bookmarks is always time consuming and often you just want to find this site you visited but you forgot to bookmark.

Memex is your friend. You can:

• highlight and bookmark text in these pages
• add tags to your bookmarks
• search in plain text in your history and bookmarks

This is just a browser plugin but you can also synchronise your bookmarks across devices via the site or host this server by yourself.

You should take a look at Memex.

Opensource, modern. You can tag your bookmarks, annotate pages, search in them. It allows you to search in your histoty ....

But it limited to online content.

Nope, I usually just paste links to telegram and open them on FF desktop when I need that, since I don't use that function often (on mobile I only use it to read news and search things on the go... not really a power user on Android browsers myself).

Technically though, you should be able to use an online bookmarking service that has an app for android and an extension on Firefox for something similar if you use it often. Pocket for example comes bundled with Firefox and has an app for android.

Another one would be "Memex" which also allows you to add notes as well as pages.
