It's a cryptocurrency with true anonimity built-in. Nobody can analyze the blockchain and know how much someone has or where exactly it went. It's been around for a while, but it isn't yet user-friendly enough to attain mainstream adoption (no GUI - coming soon though. For now, only console, but it's simple enough to use). Monero can be used as a privacy layer for Bitcoin payments. Especially honest people should value their privacy and less than honest people require it.
I actually like https://getmonero.org/home. It looks like a software project instead of some salesman website that tries to get you to buy the product.
Sorry to say but not impressed with your portfolio. If getmonero.com would look like that it went backwards.
Wikipedia page always needs some updates, so you are right, but about GUI. GUI is in beta so direct link to Monero Wiki page should be out of question. But on the other hand I really cant see any link to https://getmonero.org/home where are all wallets listed. Or I am just blind as usually.
Are there any potential issues or conflicts with the Twitter feed being integrated into the Monero core GUI?
Monero will eventually run behind i2p yet the core GUI will contain external web links via Twitter's traceable http://t.co shortening service. Is that desirable?
With this feed inside the official GUI pretty much becoming Monero's default news and alert system, how much damage could be done if the @monerocurrency account is highjacked by a bad actor?

Just to make things clear this is the official website: https://getmonero.org/home
The mymonero webwallet is this one: https://mymonero.com/#/ and be careful with this, there is at least one scam site trying to look the same
The desktop command line wallet is called simplewallet.
I agree this is an issue.
Well, what you can do about this is always use clients with rotating addresses and full validation, like Bitcoin Core and Armory. But using clients with full validation requires you to download the entire block chain (~40 GB and increasing), which isn't suitable for mobile devices or who doesn't have a good internet conection. It's posible to use Tor, but you need to be very careful with this (also using Tor with SPV clients is considered a bad idea). Another alternative is using coin mixers, like BitcoinFog and BitMixer
But in my case, I don't have the conditions to do this, so I just use a SPV wallet (Electrum). At least it's an HD wallet. But even with these issues, I think Bitcoin is a good alternative to credit/debit cards.
There are some other alternatives about privacy in cryptocurrencies. Monero seems to me the most interesing. They use a concept known as ring signatures, in combination with stealth addresses. The only issue which I see is because they still don't have any SPV wallet and the full-node official client eats a lot of RAM (they're working in a solution to this).
Pensava que a unica moeda digital que era segura "dessa maneira" era uma chamada monero.
> Para comprar droga online.
então com estes movimentos de legalização das drogas se calhar no futuro o bitcoin vai perder a sua utilidade.
There exists now digital currency which is untraceable.. thus untaxable. I'm not saying this is the only solution, but it is an option. See https://getmonero.org/home
Fibre internet can be redistributed wirelessly across the border from south africa. People can form their own networks using directional wifi antennahs.
Hi,
All I need is this page https://getmonero.org/home translated to chinese. What dialect are you most experienced in writing in? How much would you charge and how long would this take you?

Regarding step 2, cyrptocurrency. Be carefull about Bitcoins or Litecoins, or most of other crypto currency. They use public blockchains, which makes all transactions public and free to everyone to see and analyse. The only thing protecting you when using bitcoin/litcoin is (are) your address(es). But once the address(es) get linked to you, all your transactions are there. Think about bitcoin address like your username on reddit. Once ppl will link your username with your real name, they can check all your past posts. Though with bitcoin it is even worse, as you cant delete records of your past transactions. For full privacy and anonymity, need to look for example into monero. You can easily and privately pay ppl with bitcoins, if they dont accept monero, using service like xmr.to. This ensures that your payments, even to bitcoin address, are private and anonymous.
Such a market should implement an privacy proven crypto-currency such as Monero (XMR). This would remove the need for bitcoin tumblers in addition to mitigating any risk associated with vendors and customers being tracked via currency transactions. Protocol level privacy is always preferable to any form of bitcoin mixing be it tumblers, coinjoin, etc.
Give Monero consideration for such a market, its a perfect fit.
