Have a look at Spout (http://collect3.com.au/spout/). It can display various Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and/or gNews. It looks very very nice, great typography. Although it is not really useful (displaying only one bite of information at a time), I still have it set up in my office with an old iPad and a normally unused TV.
