That's why it's a demo/beta! None of us had found that yet. It sounds like you had clipping stuck on.
Where were you? Who had you talked to last?
Upload your save, found at (C:\Users\ <Name here>\Saved Games\Pokemon Rebalanced_ Red) to http://uguu.se/ and I can reset you to Pewter Pokemon Center so you keep your progress.
