Plex web UI (I'm assuming this is launching plex.tv on my computer) shows the correct duration for all of them. The full library refresh seems to have fixed the problem!
I didn't even know that was an option, THANK YOU!!!
I experimented and researched a bit.
Embedding a PDF in MP4 should be theoretically possible using "private streams" which can hold arbitrary binary data.
But it seems like PDF can't be added as a normal video stream (like PNG/JPEG cover images). ffmpeg and AtomicParsley for example don't recognize it as a valid format.
Problems is, I haven't found a program that can just mux private streams with binary data into MP4, so you'd probably have to write a special program or an encoder for ffmpeg in order to do this.
However, what does easily work is adding a PDF as an "attachment file" to a MKV container. These attachments are usually how people add cover images to their MKVs.
Using the .mka extension, Plex will pick this up as a valid audio media file and add it to the library.
So if you were to have access to the complete MKV file in Prologue, you could read the PDF attachment.
Attachments can be added to MKV files with mkvtoolnix for example.
I wonder if Musicbrainz is a viable source now that Plex supports it officially 🤔. The only downside seems to be that the catalogue for audiobooks isn't comprehensive at the moment, but if we all submit the books in our libraries we could get things going pretty quickly.
It even has support for series (example) that we could use to create collections automatically. A custom agent would be needed for that, but it should be easy enough to write.
Yep, I'm working on getting the project ready for localisation now. The tricky part is separating the strings into Prism/Prologue (they're a monorepo/shared project with a bunch of shared views). They might have to be translated together, unfortunately.
I'll definitely be using some sort of crowd sourcing for translations. I know there are a fair few platforms for this out there (e.g. weblate) - you wouldn't happen to have any recommendations?
I have these at the moment:https://www.amazon.com/H2O-Audio-Underwater-Waterproof-Headphones/dp/B08NCHYNW3/ref=sr\_1\_8?dchild=1&keywords=Waterproof+Headphones+for+Swimming+Bluetooth&qid=1635916808&sr=8-8
Any actually waterproof headphones while swimming should work fine, BUT the trick is this.... BLE does not penetrate more than a few inches underwater, so the antenna of whatever headphones you use have to be positioned right beside the apple watch.
Right now I use the audible app plus this method and it works well. The downside is you loose out on the apple watch swim tracking as it's on your head/goggles but eh.
In my case I have the watch on goggles via an apple watch google strap but as long as it's a few inches away from antenna it works well.
>Chromecast support
Coming soon™
>Web player for desktop browsers.
A web version is unlikely. I've been working on a macOS version, if that helps.
>Android App
I had one planned until I was told about Chronicle and (more recently), BookCamp. I'll leave them to handle Android and stick to what I know 😅
